kidney disease: A disorder in which the filtration structures of the kidneys are damaged over the course of many years. A possible complication in women with Turner syndrome.

lymphedema: A condition in which lymph fluids fail to drain correctly, causing hands and/or feet to swell. A possible complication in women with Turner syndrome.

menstruation: The shedding of the lining of the uterus once a month; also called a period.

motor coordination: The ability of an individual to perform large motor functions such as walking, running, climbing and other activities involving moving the arms and legs.

nonverbal learning disability (NLD): A type of learning disability in which verbal skills and development are normal or above average, while math and other nonverbal skills lag behind. NLD is a possible symptom of Turner syndrome.

obesity: Obesity is defined as a body mass index (BMI) of 30.0 to 39.9, while morbid obesity is defined as a BMI of 40.0 or higher. A possible complication in women with Turner syndrome.

osteoporosis: A bone disease where bones are weaker and less dense than normal. A possible complication in women with Turner syndrome.
